Convert GLB or glTF to OBJ
Export static glTF mesh groups as geometry-only OBJ with scene placements applied.
Supported input and output
Static GLB 2.0 and embedded glTF meshes to OBJ vertices, triangle faces, generated normals and groups. Default-scene matrix and TRS placements are applied.
Placed mesh groups, without an MTL bundle
Each imported mesh primitive becomes an OBJ group after its scene transform is applied. This helps retain meaningful geometry boundaries in a mesh editor. The output is geometry-first: it does not reproduce glTF materials, embedded images or scene hierarchy, and no companion MTL file is generated.
How to use this tool
- Choose a supported static scene.
- Check mesh groups and bounds.
- Convert to OBJ and import the coordinates as mm.
Limitations to check
- OBJ groups do not preserve node parentage or reusable mesh instances. Only the default scene is exported; other scenes are not combined.
- Textures, material definitions and vertex colors are omitted, including embedded images. No external buffer or image is fetched.
- Animation, skins, morph targets, sparse data, compression and extensions prevent conversion. Coordinates are normalized from metres to mm; set the OBJ import unit accordingly.
File and processing limits
- GLB/glTF input up to 25 MiB, 4 MiB JSON, 16 buffers and 32 MiB total decoded embedded resources.
- 1,024 nodes, hierarchy depth 32, JSON depth 64, 256 primitives, 500,000 placed vertices and 250,000 triangles.
- Generated mesh output is limited to 64 MiB.
- 30 seconds per mesh job. Browser memory and device speed can impose lower practical limits.
