Repair an STL Mesh
Clean up degenerate and duplicate STL triangles, optionally weld vertices and compare before/after reports. Local repair with explicit limits; no hole filling.
Supported input and output
Binary and ASCII STL → binary STL, in unchanged model units.
Compare the cleanup with the original
The repair pipeline removes zero-area triangles, geometric duplicates and unreferenced vertices. Welding is optional and explicit. Orientation correction is limited to reversing one closed, consistently inward shell; it does not guess cavity nesting across several shells. The before/after report records changes so you can decide whether to keep the result.
How to use this tool
- Open an STL and inspect the initial defect report.
- Choose welding and orientation options only if appropriate for the model.
- Apply repair, compare the change counts and preview, then download the resulting STL.
Limitations to check
- Removes zero-area and duplicate triangles and unreferenced vertices. Optional welding is explicit.
- No hole filling, intersection resolution, non-manifold repair or cavity reconstruction.
- Orientation correction only reverses a single closed consistently inward shell. Multiple shells are left unchanged.
- Automatic repair can change geometry and cannot guarantee printability. Inspect the result before download.
File and processing limits
- STL input up to 8 MiB; 150,000 stored vertices and 50,000 triangles.
- Topology analysis: at most 150,000 edge records and 5 million weld comparisons.
- 20 seconds per job; generated STL output up to 3 MiB.
Processing happens in this browser; your file and filename are not uploaded. Cancel, reset or replace the file to stop its worker. Downloads are generated locally.
Questions about this workflow
Can this fill holes or resolve intersecting solids?
No. Hole filling, intersection resolution and non-manifold reconstruction are outside this repair tool. Those defects need a mesh editor or modeling application with the relevant operations.
